  1. Unity API

    I think Unity API is more time intensive than a programming language
    C#.

    Unity engine has some core API classes. such as Object. GameObject. Rigidbody. Transform. Camera. Quaternion. Vector3........

    It would be great to get a comprehensive course about this topics..

      I was recently at an Nvidea talk about VRWorks coming to unity in the next update. It looked amazing - raytraced audio, single pass geometry rendering, lens matched shading... very cool stuff!

        • Camera-based course 3D *and* 2D

          A bad camera can break a great game.

          There hasn't been a great explanation and/or exploration of the pivotal role cameras play in games and considering every game has a camera, I think it's time we all put our director hats on and learnt how to use a camera properly!

          There's the obvious but not simple feature of how a camera follows a player, but there also a host of other topics this course could cover, such as:

          colour grading (lookup textures etc)
          camera shake
          depth of field, blur
          transitions
          zoom in/outs
          multi-cam
          etc

          All of these things are elements…

            • Valve SDK, Valve materials, Animated character from Blender to Counter Strike.GMOD, etc.

              Valve has a great development community cranking out ridiculous amounts of free levels, weapons, character models, scripts, props, game moding tools, etc. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I would much rather mess about in Gary's Mod, (now on Steam for $10) than to go "pew pew" at my friends in a $60 Call of Duty. Valve is complex, and poorly documented but the tools and content are so much cheaper. Who's with me? Vote me up.

                We just got a litte bit of it with the "state machine" and the "singleton" in the Unity course but I'm sure that there is much more to learn about!

                • Unity and Blender Developement Course With Sections Separated By Job i.e. Programmer, Level Designer, and Artist with a Round Up Project

                  I think all of us have taken many of Ben's course where we develop a game by ourselves. BUT, in the real world, that does not happen, wherein a team, which is curated by a project manager, contains programmers, level designers, and artists, at the minimum amount for indie titles.

                  We would love to see a Unity and Blender Game Studio Development course wherein a group at my college can be on the same course with me but we can split up via job positions i.e. the listed above.

                  We would want to see how we can best integrate each…

                    • The Complete Unity Developer 2017

                      We'd love to update the Unity course completely, same projects but in the latest version of Unity and with 1000s of small improvements.

                      This would start in Unity 5.4 or higher, and we would upgrade during the production of the course (e.g. if Unity 6 ships)

                      The only way we can afford to do this is create a different course, and offer it as an upgrade.

                      Would be $10 to upgrade for existing Complete Unity Developer students.

                            Hi guys! Sculptris is probably the best new tool for absolute beginners in 3D modelling. It requires no knowledge of shapes, vertices, etc.
                            Essentially, it's a virtual clay ball!

                            Other great advantages: 1. it's free, and 2. you can export to Blender, and from there, use in animations, games, etc.

                            YouTube has mostly speed sculpting videos, and no decent tutorials for this. Great opportunity for a new course.

                                These are some themes that I think are left to complete and improve the course.

                                - Physics engine in blender, everything we need to learn about object that can interact with each other, physics of a wind blow.
                                - Liquids and fluids, water, fog, smoke, oil, how to made them.
                                - Wheels and helix, how to make them rotate in their animations, when a car advance and turn, when a helix of a plane or a windmill rotate.

                                  Seeing the tech demos from Unity 3D, blender or other programs are not needed to create models etc.

                                  Like the blender course, but using just the unreal engine. Include unity specific features. Creating assets, landscapes, environments, buildings, full level for a 3D shooter. Anything non-programming related. For people who want to specialize in, and maybe work in, modeling, animation, shading, rigging...

                                    How about, in addition to the Blender course, a simple course on how to make 2D game assets, particularly geared around the Unity and Unreal courses that you already offer. I know other people offer 2D game art courses on Udemy, but this way people can be sure they're getting something they can use with the Unity/Unreal skills you've already taught them.

                                        I haven't finished the Unity course yet (going to start on Zombie FPS). But so far in the Unity course I found the 2D games the most enjoyable.

                                        I'd love to see a follow up Unity course with more 2D games that we can recreate, make our own.
