    • The Complete Unity Developer 2017

      We'd love to update the Unity course completely, same projects but in the latest version of Unity and with 1000s of small improvements.

      This would start in Unity 5.4 or higher, and we would upgrade during the production of the course (e.g. if Unity 6 ships)

      The only way we can afford to do this is create a different course, and offer it as an upgrade.

      Would be $10 to upgrade for existing Complete Unity Developer students.

        • A Simple but Complete RTS Game

          *It is hard to find good, comprehensive tutorials in C++ for a solid RealTime Strategy game (RTS). ENGINE TO BE DECIDED NEARER TIME, UNITY OR UNREAL.

          *The course should handle the following features at the minimum:
          -Formations (Line, column, skirmish formation etc).
          -Spawning multiple units at the same time.
          -Formation changes.
          -Tactical pathfinding.
          -Tactical map analysis using influence mapping.
          -Minimap.
          -Streaming in large battlefield maps.
          -1 Vs 1 multiplayer code.
          -Saving and loading the game state.
          -Simple game DVR for recording and replaying a game session.
          - Ability to edit terrain at runtime (originally in merged tycoon game idea)

          • Procedural Content Generation

            One of the most voted cards in the former Ben's Trello roadmap, I definitively think this shouldn't be forgotten. Procedural Content Generation is not only the future of game programming, it's already here at full speed in title's as diverse as Civilization, Minecraft and No Man's Sky. More importantly, although it is not always acknowledged, PCG is also one of the most powerful techniques for indie developers, since it can cut down time and resources for small teams trying to deliver big or diverse content in their game, no to mention re-playability.

                      I’ve moved this back one level as we’re realistically not doing this in the next 3 months with the Unity RPG on our plate.

                      Hopefully by the time we revisit the available tools will be more mature.

                    • Vive/Oculus VR Hand Controller Development For Unreal

                      Additional modules in the existing Unreal C++ course that would provide basic knowledge of implementing HTC Vive/SteamVR specific features including head tracking, controller interaction and roomscale/chaperone components. Could potentially be expanded to include Oculus Rift when touch controllers for that system are available.

                          This is very inspired by this awesome Blender script: https://github.com/a1studmuffin/SpaceshipGenerator

                          Just imagine if you want to make a teaming spaceport for an animation. With stuff like this you can create thousands of background ships in an instant and don't have to buy premade models or spend an insane amount of time on modeling background stuff.

                              I wonder whether a mini course in Shader Forge (https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/14147) might be a good way to ease the difficulty curve on how shaders work.

                              It's a well supported and loved tool that might help communicate the ideas behind how shaders work…

                                  • The Complete 3D Pipeline For Game Developers

                                    In Progress- LAUNCHING EARLY DECEMBER

                                    Whilst putting together a game asset pack it preparation for future course became apparent that importing assets and setting them up correctly in your project can be a real pain.

                                    I have so far dissected the process for Unity5, Unreal4 and CryEngine5 and realised there is scope for a course on this itself.

                                    All of the course will be possible using Free Software

                                    The course scope will focus on just Unity initially with scope for additional engines to be covered in either this course or a separate course depending on the workflow differences.

                                      Hey everyone, thanks for all your feedback on this.

                                      We have decided to remain focused on one game engine at a time.

                                      The First Game Engine to be covered is Unity.

                                      I am putting together an intermediate course now, focused only on the pipeline between Blender and Unity

                                      It will be launched in Early December and built up from then onwards with your feedback :)

                                          I would like to know how to create a Character Creation and Customization System like ark survival, I can't find anything useful about this on the internet but it is a key component to have when creating a multiplayer and even a single player game
                                          It could have:
