  1. Blender to UnrealEngine 4 asset creation

Modeling assets in Blender and importing them into UnrealEngine. Basically static meshes for props, environment elements, weapons and items.

      • Game Design Masterclass - Make Games in Unity Without Code

Pure focus on design, play-tuning and level building. A project-based course where art, sound and code are provided but you build the levels, tune the play, etc etc.

        • Learn Char Development - Create, Model and Animate with Blender

          =============
          WITH BLENDER
          =============

I would love to participate in a full course of character creation for games or movies with Blender, from script design and concept design (not the focus here, but explaining step by step) to modeling in Blender (here is the focus: sculp , Modeling, rigs, bones etc). With a final focus on animating this character in a small scene created by the user or defined by the teachers.

          • gameDev TV app

            Hey Ben;

I want this amazing gameDev Tv forum as a app on my phone (apple, android) so when im on the train going to work or in a bus I can check out this quickly. I would love we could kickstart this project to make it happen. The idea of having this as a app on the go would be amazing a lot easier to be more active on this!!

            Regards Jake

              • Blender to Unreal Engine 4 Character pipeline.

This one will be a little harder because of limitations in blenders fbx exporter issues. Create, Modify, Rig, and apply materials to the Character and import into UE4.

                • 3D Model Mastery - Preparing Blender Models For Unity

                  Live on Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/unityassets

Whilst putting together a game asset pack it preparation for future course became apparent that importing assets and setting them up correctly in your project can be a real pain.

I have so far dissected the process for Unity5, Unreal4 and CryEngine5 and realised there is scope for a course on this itself.

All of the course will be possible using Free Software

The course scope will focus on just Unity initially with scope for additional engines to be covered in either this course or a separate course depending on the workflow differences.

                  You'll be able…

                  • Unreal Engine 4 Basic and Advanced

2 different courses. Or one big one:

Teach the basics of unreal engine 4 and C++ for the beginner programmer/designer.

Teach the advanced techniques that programming teams use in unreal engine 4, such as creation of new plugins, creation of advanced functions. Game theory and practice.

                    • ARM Guide for Unity Developers: Optimising Mobile Gaming Graphics

If you're interested in developing mobile games, ARM's guide is amazing...

                      http://malideveloper.arm.com/documentation/developer-guides/arm-guide-unity-enhancing-mobile-games/

The challenge is it's a wall of text, vote for this idea if you would like to see an OFFICIAL video course version of this guide, with ARM's blessing and support.

                      • Open World Suvival

A very graphical based (look at a lot of the camera tricks and effects (could tie in with the blender course)) photorealistic open world survival game. Use of procedural generation and some more complicated ideas. (The following are not meant to be complicated, just ideas, before some violent nerd attacks me) Research trees. Saving progress. AI. Good terrain gen. Use of other free tools. e.g. Terragen to create terrain. Lots of building blocks to make a huge beautiful survival game.

                        • Infrastructure for Game Development and Public Release

Although Ben and Co's courses are great in learning how to develop games, I think it is equally important to know what infrastructure you need to support the development of those games and how to Release the game. Some topics could include:

                          For Development:

                          1. Source Control (more in-depth then what is covered in the courses)
                          2. Backup and Recovery Strategies
                          3. Collaboration Strategies (Both local and Online)
                          4. Security
                          5. Free or at-a-fee software and services recommended

                          For Release:

                          1. Platform Overlay/App stores (Steam, gog, GooglePlay etc.)
                          2. Servers
                          - What type of servers needed
                          - How to upload…

                          • Leap Motion in Unity

The last version of Leap motion device seems very precise, interesting and easy to use in Unity. I was able to connect Leap to unity with the help of the documentation in developer.leapmotion.com (Attached please find a very simple demo of what I could do with the leap in Unity)

However, I think more detailed tutorials are really needed to teach us how to make very cool and advanced applications like the following:

                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44a0Lnis8MM
                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LVVpl9tCNE
                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJnWoAI6Kuo

Aren't they cool? But the thing is that there is no documentation available in Unity website to teach how to use Leap anymore. If…

                            • Prototyping Techniques

I would like to see a YouTube video or some other lesson on the basics of prototyping an idea. Do's and don'ts. Tricks of the trade. Show an example of taking a basic idea, writing down some decisions, and then quickly prototyping a scene or something.

Should we use basic primitives? How much scripting and debugging should go into it? How long does it take?

More importantly, let's say you have a prototype (or even a complex prototype that you found suitable enough to get some basic playtesting done)... I'm interested in the process of taking it and turning it…

Remember PBR doesn't mean photorealism, you can do a PBR game with a cartoon style! Shader programming in order to do photorealistic mood or a cartoony one.

                                      • Generate Plants procedurally using fractals / L-systems

L-systems are a type of fractal, which was originally invented by a botanist to describe the shapes that plants take. They make a great basis for lots of procedural generation techniques other than plants too.

Here are some explanations and example uses:

                                        • modeling jewelry

similar to modeling in Blender Course, but focusing on modeling, mapping and texturing shiny items, such as jewelry. creating materials such as gold, silver, and gems/diamonds.
by working around a 3D avatar to make a necklace, or around an arm to make a bracelet.
